¿Cómo utilizar UN y ALGÚN/ALGUNOS en inglés?

El significado literal de los determinantes suelen el mismo. Some y any se podrían traducir por alguno/a, algunos/as y generalmente lo utilizamos cuando no necesitamos determinar exactamente la cantidad de aquello a lo que nos estamos refiriendo.
Se utiliza some (algunos/as o algo de) en oraciones afirmativas y cuando quieres pedir u ofrecer algo. … Por otro lado,any se emplea en preguntas (algunos/as, algo de) o en oraciones negativas (ningún/a, nada de). Toma en cuenta que any se usa para sustantivos incontables y contables plurales.
Usamos A / AN (un) con sustantivos contables singulares.
- My brother has a dog and my sister has a cat.
Mi hermano tiene un perro y mi hermana un gato
- There is an accident on the corner.
Hay un accidente en la esquina.
A se usa cuando la siguiente palabra comienza con un sonido consonante.
- A book

- A university (The start of the word university sounds like YOU, a consonant sound).

AN se usa cuando la siguiente palabra comienza con un sonido de vocal.

Some and Any (alguno/a + algunos/as)
Usamos SOME and ANY con sustantivos en plural e incontables:
- SOME se usan generalmente en oraciones positivas.
- Any se usa generalmente en oraciones negativas
- I have some information for you about flights to Paris.
- (Positive – Uncountable)
Tengo información para ti sobre vuelos a París.
(Positivo – incontable)
- I don’t have any information for you about flights to Paris.
- (Negative – Uncountable)

También puede usar SOME y ANY en una oración sin un sustantivo si el significado de la oración es claro.
- I didn’t eat any salad but Peter ate some. (salad)
No comí ensalada, pero Peter sí. (ensalada)
- Sean took lots of photos of the mountains but Emma didn’t take any. (photos)
Sean tomó muchas fotos de las montañas, pero Emma no tomó ninguna. (fotos)
Preguntas con SOME y con ANY
Generalmente, usamos ANY en las preguntas.
- Do you know any famous people?
¿Conoces a personas famosas?
- Do you have any children?
¿Tienes hijos?
Pero, SOME se usa en las siguientes circunstancias:
Cuando estamos ofreciendo algo.
- Would you like some coffee?
¿Quieres un café?
- Do you want some sugar for your coffee?
¿Quieres azúcar para tu café?
Cuando estamos pidiendo algo.
- Could I have some salt, please?
¿Podría darme un poco de sal, por favor?
- Can I have some fries with that?
¿Puedo comer unas patatas fritas con eso?
Cuando estamos sugiriendo algo.
- Why don’t we watch some movies on TV tonight?
