    In this article we are going to address the differences that exist between\u00a0English\u00a0and Spanish, basic grammatical differences in order to avoid, in a certain way, that students make the classic mistakes that are incurred when using English.\u00a0Here are the most important summarized a series of differences between both languages:<\/p>\n

    First<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    In\u00a0English,\u00a0as a general rule, the adjective is placed before<\/strong>\u00a0the noun it describes, while in Spanish the opposite happens and the noun goes before the adjective.<\/p>\n

    • I have a big dog<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • My white cat<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          While\u00a0subject pronouns in English are used obligatorily,<\/strong> this is not the case in Spanish.<\/p>\n

              Second<\/strong><\/h2>\n

              While we see that object pronouns in English always go after the verb, in Spanish the opposite happens and they go before the verb.<\/p>\n

                  Third<\/strong><\/h2>\n

                  Differences in the conjugation of verbs.\u00a0While in Spanish, in which all verbal persons are conjugated, the English verb only has one conjugation.\u00a0From\u00a0hence to form the infinitive the ‘to’ particle is used<\/strong>\u00a0preceding the verb:<\/p>\n

                      In English the present indicative is formed with the infinitive without to.\u00a0<\/strong>All people have the same form, except the third person singular (in which an ‘-s’ is added to the infinitive).<\/p>\n

                                              In English the adjective and the specific article (el, la, los, las)\u00a0are invariable from the point of view of the<\/strong>\u00a0grammatical gender (masculine or feminine) and the number (singular or plural).<\/p>\n

                                                      Indeed, as we can see from the examples, unlike English,\u00a0in Spanish the gender and number are changed to the article and the adjective<\/strong>\u00a0depending on the noun they accompany.)<\/p>\n

                                                      • tall<\/em>\u00a0= alto, alta, altos, altas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                                        \u00a0<\/strong>Fifth<\/strong><\/h2>\n

                                                        \u00a0<\/strong>One of the\u00a0characteristics of English is its variable pronunciation<\/strong>.\u00a0Indeed, a big difference that you will find is in the pronunciation of English, since the same letters and combinations of letters in words can be pronounced differently from word to word.\u00a0Oddly enough, it is a reality of the English language.\u00a0While in Spanish when you see a group of letters in a word you can be 99% sure how to pronounce the word – with English there are cases of quite a difference.<\/p>\n

                                                        As we already know\u00a0in English there are sounds that we do not have in Spanish and on the contrary<\/strong>\u00a0, for example in English there are 12 vowel sounds while in Spanish only 5 and, as regards the consonants, there are certain phonemes that do not sound the same despite be written identically, for example b, p, t, h, g, v, z, etc.\u00a0Also in English like many other languages \u200b\u200bthere is no letter \u00f1.<\/p>\n

                                                        Sixth<\/strong><\/h2>\n

                                                        \u00a0<\/strong>While in Spanish we have \u201ct\u00fa\u201d and \u201custed\u201d in English it is simplified to use \u201cyou\u201d in both cases.<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                                        • You are from England<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                                            Seventh<\/strong><\/h2>\n

                                                            Another difference\u00a0is that the names of nationalities, languages, days of the week, months of the year in English are capitalized<\/strong>\u00a0, while not in Spanish.\u00a0The English also lower-case the names of the stations when they are used in a general way.<\/p>\n

                                                                    There are also\u00a0differences in punctuation marks<\/strong>\u00a0.\u00a0Question marks and exclamation marks in English are only placed at the end of the sentence, while in Spanish they are placed both at the beginning and at the end of the sentence<\/p>\n

                                                                    Nineth<\/strong><\/h2>\n

                                                                    The\u00a0order of the words in the sentence<\/strong>\u00a0is also significant\u00a0.\u00a0<\/strong>The order of words in a sentence in English may vary from the order in Spanish.\u00a0In English the order of the words is more important – changing the order is not allowed.<\/p>\n

                                                                    For a positive declarative sentence the following scheme is very useful:<\/p>\n
